Space Expo is a space travel museum and the visitor centre of ESA ESTEC. We have been open for almost 30 years. Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands and her son Prince Friso opened the exhibition centre on June 29, 1990. Each year we welcome more than 100,000 visitors.
Visitors to Space
Expo make an exciting journey of discovery through the universe. You can touch
a real meteorite, launch a hydrogen rocket or jump around on the moon. One of our highlights is André
Kuipers’ original Soyuz capsule.
In addition, much attention is paid to the history of space travel. You can walk through a model of the International Space Station (ISS). A visitor favourite is the life-size model of the moon landing.
An exhibition from a galaxy far away
Millions of people from all over the world love Star Wars. A space saga told in no fewer than nine films, divided into three trilogies. Space Expo loves Star Wars, too. And because there’s a new Star Wars film in the cinemas, we’re hosting a very special presentation at Space Expo, put together by several Dutch collectors.
50 years Moonlanding
The exhibition '50 years moon landing' can be visited at Space Expo from 21 July 2019 to 5 January 2020. The exhibition contains unique objects tied to the first manned trips to the moon: the Apollo missions.
André & the Soyuz Capsule
At Space Expo you can also admire many things that have to do with André Kuipers' space missions. For example his original space suit. The Soyuz TMA-03M space capsule (with which André Kuipers made his journey to the international space station ISS) can also be seen permanently at Space Expo.
