Walk of Space
Since 2013, Noordwijk has featured a Walk of Space, with the handprints and footprints of famous astronauts set into the tiles of the Koningin Wilhelmina Boulevard. The Walk of Space is a collaboration between Space Expo, ESA ESTEC and the Municipality of Noordwijk. It symbolizes the strong bond between the municipality of Noordwijk and the space industry.
The tiles
The first tile featured the imprint of Wubbo Ockels' astronaut boot. Since then, many more tiles with the handprints and footprints of famous astronauts have been added. Each tile highlights the importance of space exploration and serves as a reminder of the astronaut's spaceflight(s).
New astronauts will continue to be added this year and in the years to come. In Noordwijk, you can literally follow in the footsteps of your favorite astronaut. The handprints or footprints of the astronauts already featured are:
