We currently offer the following lectures:

ISS

The International Space Station (ISS) is the largest and most expensive space project ever undertaken. For years it has been the destination for astronauts from 26 countries. It is a place where former rivals collaborate and conduct research into the effects of long-term space travel on both the human body and various materials. It represents a first serious step towards future human exploration of the universe.

This lecture takes you through the history of this international cooperation: the origins, construction, and expansion of the station and of course, a guided tour of the ISS is included. What kind of research is conducted on the station? And what is it like to live and work in a laboratory orbiting the Earth at 400 km altitude, travelling at 28,000 km/h?

Back to the Moon

The Apollo missions of the late 1960s and early 1970s are world-famous: the result of a space race, spectacularly won by America with the first step, words, and flag on the Moon. Our Moon was visited a few more times, but soon fell silent again. Since 1972, no one has set foot on it. That is about to change: a new race to the Moon has begun! NASA has the ambitious goal of landing humans on the Moon again before 2030 and this time, to take real steps towards colonising it. And NASA is not alone in such plans.

This lecture first introduces you to the Moon before diving into the Apollo missions. How did we visit the Moon in the past, and what did we learn? It then explores the new plans in detail: NASA’s ARTEMIS programme. What do these plans involve, is everything on schedule, and where do we stand now? But perhaps most importantly: why are we going back at all?

Fascinated by Mars

Mars. The red planet has fascinated humans for centuries. Our image of Mars is very diverse: from war god and home for Martians to cold desolate desert world. There are many questions surrounding Mars and the fascination remains. There are even plans for the colonization of this distant world. But how realistic is that and what is the point of going there? How do you begin something like the colonization of a planet? This lecture will paint a picture of the knowledge we have, how we acquired this knowledge and what challenges lie ahead for future astronauts to Mars. By the end of the presentation, you will be able to make an informed decision about whether a trip to Mars is for you!

Custom lectures

Looking for a lecture on a different topic or for a specific audience? That’s possible too! Our experts are happy to create a tailor-made lecture. Please contact us to discuss the possibilities.
