Katy Perry space trip
You surely haven't missed it: on April 14, singer Katy Perry took a space flight. The crew of mission NS-31 also included presenter Gayle King, former NASA engineer Aisha Bowe, film producer Kerianne Flynn, human rights activist Amanda Nguyen and Lauren Sánchez, Jeff Bezos's fiancée.
The rocket from Blue Origin, Bezos's space company, took off from the launch site in West Texas. The flight took the crew to an altitude of approximately 100 kilometers. Just eleven minutes later, the capsule landed safely back in the Texas desert. During the trip, the crew experienced about three minutes of weightlessness.
The rocket operated fully autonomously, meaning no pilots were needed to control the craft.
The price tag
NS-31 was Blue Origin's eleventh commercial flight. In the future, many more commercial flights with space tourists will likely follow. However, such a trip is not for everyone: the deposit alone is $150,000.
