Age 4 - 6

Sam the monkey becomes an astronaut

Together with an enthusiastic guide, students follow the adventure of Sam the monkey, who dreams of becoming an astronaut. During his journey, they discover what it takes to go on a space mission.

The programme consists of a space-themed lesson and an interactive guided tour. The full programme lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Lesson: Sam the monkey becomes an astronaut (45 min)

The children join Sam in discovering what you need to learn and be able to do, to become an astronaut. You'll even conduct a real rocket experiment. Who knows, you might even lift off from Earth for a moment!

Break (15 min)

Between the two programme activities, the kids have a 15-minute break to eat something or enjoy some fresh air in the playground.

Interactive tour (45 min)

The guide takes the children, and Sam’s little suitcase , on an exploratory journey through the exhibition. Together, you will fill the suitcase: what do you need in space and what do astronauts actually eat? You’ll even get the chance to touch a real meteorite!

Age 7 - 10

Astronaut wanted

In this programme, students discover what it feels like to be an astronaut. What skills and characteristics are important in space? And what is it like to live and work in the ISS, the International Space Station? The programme consists of a space lesson and an interactive tour. The total programme lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Lesson: How do you become an astronaut? (45 min)

In Space Expo's Astronaut Room, students delve deeper into the fascinating world of astronauts. Together with an experienced and enthusiastic guide, they get to work on the most important parts from an astronaut training: working together, doing experiments and staying fit, even when you float! There is also room for curious questions, such as: how do you actually go to the toilet "up there"?

Break (15 min)

Between the two parts of the programme, the students have a 15-minute break to eat or get some fresh air in the playground.

Interactive guided tour (45 min)

The guide takes the students into the museum. Now they can enter the ISS, marvel at the Soyuz capsule on which André Kuipers travelled to the ISS and touch a real iron meteorite. There is so much to discover!

Age 10 - 12

Earth Explorers: discover the Earth from Space

During Earth Explorers, students view our planet from a unique perspective: space. They discover how satellites help us learn more about Earth and changes in the climate.

The programme consists of a lesson and an interactive guided tour and lasts a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes.

Lesson: Earth Explorers (45 min)

After learning more about satellites, students also become aware of climate change and its impact on our planet. They are presented with three missions or challenges, each of which is solved using real satellite imagery. Working in small groups, the students carry out their own investigations and discuss their findings together with the class.

Break (15 min)

Between the two programme components, students have a 15-minute break to enjoy a snack or get some fresh air in the playground.

Interactive Guided Tour (45 min)

During the guided tour, students embark on a journey of discovery through the exhibition. While the lesson focuses on Earth, the tour shifts attention to space. Students can step aboard the International Space Station (ISS), marvel at the Soyuz capsule that carried André Kuipers to the ISS, and even touch a real iron meteorite.

There is so much to explore, and the interaction with the guide encourages students to reflect on their own place in the universe.
