Astronaut wanted |
Age 12 - 15
In this programme, students discover what it is like to be an astronaut. What skills and qualities are essential for living and working in space? And what is it like to live and work aboard the ISS, the International Space Station?
The programme consists of a space lesson and an interactive guided tour. The complete programme lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Lesson: Astronaut wanted
In Space Expo's Astronaut Room, students delve deeper into the fascinating world of astronauts. Together with an experienced and enthusiastic guide, they get to work on the most important themes from an astronaut training: working together, doing experiments and living and working on the International Space Station. The Space Class is adjusted according to level.
Break (15 min)
Between the two parts of the programme, the students have a 15-minute break to eat or get some fresh air.
Interactive guided tour (45 min)
The guide takes the students into the museum. Now they can enter the ISS, marvel at the Soyuz capsule on which André Kuipers travelled to the ISS and touch a real iron meteorite. There is so much to discover.
Moon settlement: fact or fiction? | Age 12 - 18
In this programme, students learn more about the history and future of lunar missions. We briefly look back at the successful crewed Moon missions of the last century, but we also look ahead. Fifty years after the last Moon landing, humanity is more ambitious than ever!
Lesson: Moon settlement (45 min)
We want to return to the Moon out of curiosity, but also to live and work there, and even to colonise it. Moreover, the Moon is more than just a final destination; it also serves as a stepping stone for further missions, for example to Mars.
The upcoming Artemis missions are laying the groundwork for future lunar exploration. In 2026, humans are expected to walk on the Moon’s surface again. However, before we can truly colonise the Moon, we must find solutions to a range of challenges. After all, there is no oxygen, water or food on the Moon. And how do we protect ourselves from micrometeorites? In this lesson, students learn about future plans and the challenges involved.

Between the two parts of the programme, the students have a 15-minute break to eat or get some fresh air.
Interactive guided tour (45 min)
The guide takes the students through the exhibition. Here, they can get up close to a real Moon rock and admire a model of the first Moon landing. Students are also given 10/15 minutes to explore the museum independently.
Robotics in space |
Age 12 - 18
Robots have become indispensable in space exploration. In this brand-new educational programme, we introduce students to the increasing collaboration between humans and machines.
Lesson: Robotics in space (45 min)
During this lesson, students will learn about various robots that play a crucial role in and around the International Space Station (ISS). We will also explore robotic systems operating in distant, exotic locations. What are their functions? How do they contribute to space missions? And to what extent can they fully replace human tasks in the future?
Break (15 min)
Between the two programme components, students will have a fifteen-minute break to grab a snack or take a short walk.
Interactive guided tour (45 min)
The guide will take students through the exhibition, providing insights into various space objects, with a special focus on robotics. For example, admire a model of the ERA: this 11-metre-long robotic arm is the largest Dutch space project ever!

This programme introduces students to the fascinating planet Mars. After Earth, this planet receives the most attention of the 8. It is the inspiration for countless movies about aliens. We want to know all about it and there are ambitious plans to go there and even live there. Could this indeed be possible? What would life be like then? But why are we and scientists actually so interested in this planet? What do we already know and what more do we want to know? And how do you actually find out things about a planet that is at least 56 million kilometers away from us? Join us and discover Mars!
The programme consists of a workshop and an interactive tour. The total programme lasts 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Lesson: Visiting Mars (45 min)
Why do humans want to go to Mars? What will we do there and what would our life be like there? What challenges will man face there? Accompanied by one of our enthusiastic guides, students will explore the conditions for life.

Between the two parts of the programme, the students have a 15-minute break to eat or get some fresh air.
Interactive guided tour (45 min)
The guide takes the students on a journey of discovery through the expostion. The workshop focuses on Mars, during the tour we look at Mars and space. Here students can enter the ISS, marvel at the Soyuz capsule on which André Kuipers traveled to the ISS and touch a real iron meteorite. There is much to discover and the interaction with the guide encourages students to think about their own place in it all.
Earth from Space |
Age 12 - 18
Discover the Earth from space! This programme focuses on the health of our vulnerable planet, covering important themes such as climate change and urbanization. We’ll explore how the world has changed using real satellite images!
The programme consists of a class and a workshop, with a total duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Workshop: Earth from Space (45 min)
In this interactive workshop, students learn how satellites monitor our planet day and night and why this data are so valuable. We’ll dive into the various functions of satellites and use satellite images to discuss the health and challenges facing Earth.
Break (15 min)
Between the two parts of the programme, students have a 15-minute break to eat or get some fresh air.
Workshop in the museum (45 min)
In small groups, students explore the exposition Earth from Space. Using their phones, they complete small tasks, answer questions, and tackle problem statements. This allows them to learn more about Earth observation and the Earth.
