Visitors using a walking aid, mobility scooter or wheelchair

Space Expo is largely accessible to visitors using a walking aid, mobility scooter or wheelchair. However, the ramps are steep, which may make a visit physically demanding without assistance or a companion.

The following areas and facilities are partially or fully inaccessible for visitors with limited mobility:

  • Upon entering, the first corridor contains several viewing ports at different heights.
  • The scale model of the ISS is accessible, but the passageway is narrow (94 cm / 37 inches) and the turning space is limited.
  • The Moonjump and Soyuz-simulator are not accessible.
  • The passage leading to the Treasure Room is a maximum of 85 cm (33.5 inches) wide.
  • Unfortunately, the Space Train is not accessible. At ESA ESTEC, there are many stairways and no elevators are available.

Space Expo has two manual wheelchairs available for visitors. To ensure that a wheelchair is available during your visit, we recommend reserving one in advance by phone at (071-200 1400). Wheelchair reservations are free of charge.
